چکیده

Background/aAim: Locoregional recurrence in lung cancer still remains an important problem. We aimed to indicate the effectiveness of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) for reevaluation previously treated nonsmall cell (NSCLC). Materials and methods: NSCLC patients who underwent EBUS rebiopsy suspicious recurrent or progressive lesions between January 2010 June 2017 were reviewed. Patients categorized into two groups based on previous treatment modalities: Group 1 (G1) consisted had been with chemoradiotherapy, 2 (G2) undergone radical surgery. Results: Of 115 patients, 100 enrolled study. 26 35 lymph nodes G1, malignant cells identified thirteen (50%). Anthracosis was detected remaining. Malignancy 28 (37.8%) G2. Thirty-three diagnosed as benign (24 anthracosis; 8 lymphocytes, granulomatous); not sampled, inadequate material obtained five. The sensitivity, specificity, negative positive predictive value, overall diagnostic accuracy EBUS-TBNA G1 84.8%, 100%, 89.1%, 93.2%, respectively. These values all perfect Conclusion: could be preferred a feasible efficient procedure patients.

Validation of EBUS-TBNA-integrated nodal staging in potentially node-positive non-small cell lung cancer

OBJECTIVE Nodal staging of lung cancer is important for selecting surgical candidates. Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) was evaluated as a modality for nodal staging of patients with potentially node-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration was used for nodal staging of NSC...

Interobserver agreement in determining non-small cell lung cancer subtype in specimens acquired by EBUS-TBNA.

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) may diagnose suspected lung cancer. Determination of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) subtype may guide therapy in select patients. Small-volume biopsies may be subject to significant interobserver variability in subtype determination. Three pathologists independently reviewed specimens from 60 patients who underwe...

Erlotinib in previously treated non-small-cell lung cancer.

BACKGROUND We conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial to determine whether the epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor erlotinib prolongs survival in non-small-cell lung cancer after the failure of first-line or second-line chemotherapy. METHODS Patients with stage IIIB or IV non-small-cell lung cancer, with performance status from 0 to 3, were eligible if they had r...

EBUS-TBNA in PET-positive lymphadenopathies in treated cancer patients

Mediastinal lymph node enlargement is common in the follow-up of patients with previously treated malignancies. The aim of this study is to assess the role of endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) for cyto-histological evaluation of positron emission tomography with 18fluorodeoxyglucose (PET) positive mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes developed in patients with...

Role of the Endobronchial Landmarks Guiding TBNA and EBUS-TBNA in Lung Cancer Staging

Background. Lung cancer is the leading cause of malignancy related mortality in the United States. Accurate staging of NSCLC influences therapeutic decisions. Transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) and endobronchial ultrasound-guided TBNA (EBUS-TBNA) has been accepted as a procedure for the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and adequacy of ...
